Note that there's no online version to compete with Microsoft Office 365 ($99.99 at Microsoft Store) or Google Drive. There's also a $399.99 Professional Edition of the suite adds the venerable Paradox database app and miscellaneous apps like Corel's AfterShot 2 photo editor and manager.
A $99.99 Home & Student Edition omits import and export features, legal features, and the ebook creator. The Standard Edition (which is the version I tested) costs $249.99, or $159.99 if you're upgrading from a previous version. Still, WordPerfect is an irreplaceable productivity tool for many users, as I'll explain. Quattro Pro and Presentations are underpowered compared with Excel and PowerPoint, and they're not substantially better than the free equivalents in the LibreOffice. Yes, it includes the Quattro Pro spreadsheet and a presentations app named Presentations, but the WordPerfect word processing program is the jewel in the suite's crown-and the only real reason to buy it. X8 represents an incremental upgrade notable for an improved interface, new templates, enhanced import and export capabilities for Office formats, and small but useful fixes, such as more undo levels. Corel WordPerfect Office X8 is the latest version of the one office suite that provides a real alternative to Microsoft Office, rather than just being a lower-powered imitation.
